The Raspberry Pi AI Camera is a state-of-the-art camera module featuring the Sony IMX500 Intelligent Vision Sensor. This compact unit integrates a 12-megapixel CMOS sensor with built-in inferencing acceleration, supporting various common neural network models. This allows users to create advanced vision-based AI applications without external accelerators.
The AI Camera enhances captured images or video with tensor metadata, which frees up the Raspberry Pi’s processor for other tasks. It supports tensor metadata within the libcamera and Picamera2 libraries, and the rpicam-apps application suite, ensuring ease of use for beginners and providing advanced users with exceptional versatility and power.
Designed for compatibility with all Raspberry Pi computers, the AI Camera maintains the same PCB outline and mounting hole locations as the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 but features a greater depth to accommodate the larger IMX500 sensor and optical subassembly.
